An Open letter to Professor Muhammad Yunus and his Advisers:
You may go to my website:https://rkarim.org and there you will get my identity.
I am an ordinary citizen of Bangladesh currently residing in Australia and I would like to make some suggestions and comments and would like to get some response from you and your Government:
1. I would suggest to call you and your group : “FEARLESS GOVERNMENT (NIRVIK SARKAR)” not “Supervisory Government(Tattabodhayeek Sarkar” or “Interim Government (Ontarbartik Sarkar)”. Let this Group stay in power till the country be at leastsubstantially Durnitimukta. You should get rid of any advisers found not to follow egalitarian principles.
2. Our Slogan should be “ Durniti Mukta Bangladesh Chaiee”. This Slogan is more important than “Joy Bangla / Bangladesh Zindabad”. This Slogan should be printed in big letters and put in all establishments: all offices; police stations, registered, unregistered offices, army establishments, all kinder-garten, schools, colleges, universities; everywhere. This slogan must replace the slogan about bangabadhu. It would be impossible to stop corruption 100%. But this slogan will help a lot as it will hit people’s psychics. I was an Associate Professor for 6 years in Singapore and there Mr. Lee Kuan Yu, father of the nation, introduced many slogans e.g. “We will work with truth; we will make Singapore an example, we will not spit in public etc.”It did help Singaporean enormously. By the way there was no photo of Mr. Lee Kuan Yu I saw in Singapore. Please do not allow any body to put your photos in any place. This hero/heroine worship must be stopped.
3. I know you and all members of“Nirvik Sarkar” will run the country with utmost honesty, integrity and with virtue. But I would be pleased if we, ordinary public, could get answer to the following:
1. These questions are for all your advisors and also it includes you: declaration of movable, immovable properties, money in banks, shares etc. in Bangladesh and overseas. Also any income from all the properties. How many children of you and them in Bangladesh and overseas. How much remuneration, salary and elements of privileges and perks have been given. Any one of your Advisers has sacrificed his/her salary and perks. “Charity begins at home” and I hope these advisers would use small sedan cars . They may all use together a micro-bus to go to their offices. This will be a wonderful example to the whole nation and it will earn enormous prestige overseas.
2. Let you announce unequivocally to the students, all administrations including police, army, private businesses all 180 million citizens that our money comes from hard labourers workingoverseas, garments workers, farmers and workers in many industries. We must not flounder these money by giving enormous benefit to army, police, all BCS and even government peons. Where in the world do you give cars to from deputy secretary and upward, majors and above, uno, ac landetc.. This practice must be stopped. Even secretaries should not be given cars for their private use. All big cars must be ceased and dump them. This way we could save petrol and less janjot in Dhaka. Let all officials use uber and payment will be made when the officers show the receipts. Where in the world except Egypt an army officer gets 5 khatas of land. So many DOHS and the lands producing crops are being used. Even in India an army officer gets a flat and they buy and of course they repay loans with reduced interest rate.
3. I have been to a few top officers government (Shachib, IGP) accommodations and I could not believe the luxury they were enjoying. Our country is still poor and countries income comes from poor people and the past Awami League Government under the leadership of notorious Sheikh Hasina bribed every body from chaprashi/peon to highest echelons in the government. She and her party did so much atrocities and corruptions ,I do not know how many years we would need to come to normalcy.
4. Some people want to pardon her. Absolutely she must not be allowed to come back. Her citizenship and Bangladeshi Passport must be cancelled and let her rot overseas. Please do not propose to bring her to Bangladesh and put the country in turmoil and spend valuable time of your government for this.
5. Now I would like to raise an important issue: In what direction you and your advisers will move. In my opinion we should not follow the Capitalist Philosophy 100% rather we will follow “A FAIRER, MORE EGALITARIAN SOCIETY”. I would request all advisers of present government, all officials, all security apparatus, army, navy and air force personnel, all education dept., all intellectuals, all students and all citizen of Bangladesh must support the principle of equalityfor all people and let us show the world that Bangladesh is an example to all countries.
6. I was shocked when a rickshaw puller told me that they could not use motorized rickshaw in Dhaka because of the privileged inhabitants in all posh area had to sacrifice their use of electric currents. I have been to a few houses in Dhanmondi, Gulshan, Baridhara, Uttara, Bashundhara, Mirpur and Purbachal andfound most of the household were using not one fridge but three fridges and Aircons were used 24 hours. This I must say a Fascist activities. My God where shall I go. You must rectify this as soon as possible and let the ricksha-wala uses motorized rickshaw.Gradually your government should create alternative job for our poverty stricken citizen.
7. We have seen the nepotism, favoritism and floundering countries wealth by BNP and lately by Awami League. The so called Chairman(acting)of BNP must tell us how much money he took overseas and if he brings back the money youmay then consider his eligibility to contest an election.
8. I propose to the students and all citizen of Bangladesh including present government to start a pollical party as soon as possible.
9. I have much to write in future.

Yours faithfully,
Professor (retd.) Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Karim, graduated from BUET in 1966
